GC 430 Famous Williams, AZ

On Saturday, September 10, we came out of Grand Canyon National Park via the southern portal leading to the town of Williams, AZ.  Most folks know Williams for one of two reasons.
  1. It is the starting point for the 90 mile Grand Canyon Railroad that many folks use to access the park during peak visitation times.
  2. On October 13, 1984 the section of I-40 just outside Williams was opened, making I-40 complete, and making Williams the last Route 66 city to be bypassed.
But Williams had a history even before all that, as shown in this shot of an 1897 bordello now functioning as a bed and breakfast and bakery-style restaurant.  Notice the lady with the red feather boa hanging out of the second floor window.
