GC 098 Vega Motel

The way old Route 66 and the current I-40 are so intertwined in these parts offers a good deal of flexibility.  You can go slow and explore all the Route 66 sites, or if you’re running behind jump on I-40 and go 80 mph down to the next major site.  That is exactly what we did after leaving the Cadillac Ranch and heading the 20 miles or so to Vega.  I’m still not sure why finding this spot was such a challenge for us.  We’d basically given up and were headed out of town when we spotted it - exactly where the guide book said.
